This is an authentic vintage Persian Bakhtiari rug hand-knotted in Persia with an all wool pile with abrash on a cotton foundation. There is very minor wear on the pile, see photos, this rug is in very good condition.
Bakhtiari rugs are originally woven by the nomadic Bakhtiari tribe located in west-central Iran southwest of Isfahan, Chahar Mahaal and Bakhtiari and parts of the provinces of Isfahan, Lorestan, and eastern Khuzestan. Woven on a cotton foundation the wool used in weaving these rugs is usually taken from the herds of the producing tribe. Bakhtiari rugs are among the more intriguing and distinct styles of Persian rugs, they are one of the few types and styles of Persian rugs that combine nomadic tribal as well as floral Persian rug designs. Bakhtiari rugs are usually woven with medallion all-over or panel garden designs. Common colors are reds, blues, pinks, browns, greens, and ivory.
* The images provided are as accurate as possible. Due to the differences in computer monitors, smartphones, and tablets it is possible the colors of the rug may slightly vary.
