This is an authentic vintage tribal Persian Karajeh runner hand-knotted in Persia with an all wool pile with abrash on a cotton foundation. There is minor even wear on the pile, see photos, this rug is in very good condition.
Karajeh (Qarajeh, Gharajeh, Karaja, Karadja) is a village near the city of Heriz in East Azerbaijan Province, Iran. Rugs from this area are commonly known for their dominant geometric styled medallions (similar to Heriz medallions) placed in rows throughout the carpet. These rugs are usually woven on a cotton foundation with a wool pile and knot density averages 50 kpsi.
