Meshkin (Meshgin Shahr) is a city in Ardabil Province, Iran. These rugs are comparable in design to the geometric patterns from the Caucasus and are commonly woven with a Turkish knot. Known predominant colors in these rugs are deep red and vibrant blue. Uneven coloring is characteristic of Meshkin rugs. Meshkin rugs are woven on a cotton or cotton/wool foundation with a wool pile.
