This is an authentic vintage Persian Sarouk Farahan rug hand-knotted in Persia. Woven with an all wool on a cotton foundation this rug is in excellent condition.
Sarouk, also known as Saruk or Sarough is situated in the province of Markazi in Iran. Sarouk rugs are typically made with a cotton foundation and a pile of high-quality vegetable-dyed wool with the occasional use of a wool-silk mixture and even some goat hair can be found in the foundation at times. Using hand-spun wool from their sheep the weavers use the Persian asymmetrical knot and weave patterns in bold reds, corals, navy, ivory, beige, and burgundy in striking designs including floral vines and curvilinear. The knot counts on average range from 120 to 450 KPSI, Sarouk rugs are also recognized for their durability to hold up through decades of wear.
* The images provided are as accurate as possible. Due to the differences in computer monitors, smartphones, and tablets it is possible the colors of the rug may slightly vary.
