This is an authentic vintage floral Persian Sarouk rug hand-knotted in Persia with an all wool pile with abrash on a cotton foundation. This rug has a full pile without any worn areas and is in excellent condition.
Sarouk (Saruk or Sarough) rugs are typically made with a cotton foundation and a pile of high-quality vegetable-dyed wool with the occasional use of a wool-silk mixture and even some goat hair can be found in the foundation at times. Using hand-spun wool from their sheep the weavers use the Persian asymmetrical knot and the knot counts on average range from 100 to 450 kpsi. Sarouk rugs are woven in bold reds, corals, navy, ivory, and burgundy in striking designs including floral vines and curvilinear. Sarouk rugs are also recognized for their durability to hold up through decades of wear.
